How do you help voiceless workers to protect themselves?

When the Pandemic hit, I took up a stint in the shipping department of LGB3, Amazon’s largest distribution center on the West Coast. Witnessing first-hand Amazon’s laissez faire approach to protecting workers from the virus, I submitted a strategy for helping workers to better protect themselves. I suggested mandatory paid COVID-19 training for all employees—which they simply hadn’t considered at that point—and an internal marketing campaign featuring employees making healthy choices.

Excited by my ideas, the building’s safety manager incorporated these suggestions into her safety education program.
