PROJECTS

Redemption Square

To reimagine how people see and think about public spaces, I directed a short documentary and web series about Pershing Square in Downtown Los Angeles that uncovers an enduring cultural conflict and reveals an inclusive vision for the park’s future through the eyes and memories of its users.

Project Enchilada

As part of the City of Las Vegas' efforts to revitalize its historic downtown, I spearheaded the development of a community storytelling and collective visioning campaign to elevate local experiences of the city that have been overshadowed by its Strip-focused media apparatus and "old white guy" versions of its history.

the cerebral city

To convince people that it’s possible to create amazing places of discovery through creative reuse of older urban frameworks, I made a cinematic meditation that reflects on my own discovery of the curious laneways and public spaces of Melbourne, Australia and the techniques that the city’s designers used to bring them to life.

Making Justice Accessible

As part of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences’ efforts to increase access to civil legal assistance, I directed a short PSA to introduce America’s crisis of civil justice into the national conversation about social justice.

NYC 25x25 concept development

For Transportation Alternatives and WXY Studio’s campaign to convert New York City streets to pedestrian-dominant uses, I helped develop an animation to inspire New Yorkers to demand streets that are dominated by people, bikes, and buses rather than by private automobiles.

Terra-Sorta-Firma

In an urban design studio, I helped create a 2070 climate resiliency master plan and set of zoning codes for Broward County, Florida to protect coastal communities and create new neighborhood typologies adapted to a state of flux—a landscape that is neither totally dry nor totally wet, but constantly in a state of change.

Poetic Structure

To capture the interdisciplinary spirit in the work of SOM (Willis Tower, Burj Kalifa), I spearheaded a short media campaign about their “Poetic Structure” exhibition in the 1921 Schindler House in West Hollywood that highlighted curious connections between early modernism and current design practice.

West Philadelphia Landscape Project

To promote environmental and social resiliency in inner-city neighborhoods, I’m helping to craft a series of video stories that communicate revelations throughout a 30+ year landscape and community development project in West Philadelphia.

Imagínate Monterrey

To combat car-dependent sprawl and social alienation in Monterrey, Mexico, I helped propose a cinematic visioning campaign aimed at sparking imagination of local residents about creating dense urban communities.

National Design Awards

For author, photographer, and landscape architect Anne Whiston Spirn’s submission for a National Design Award in the category of “Design Mind,” I directed a short narrative experience which captured the motivations and philosophy behind her life’s work. She subsequently won the award.

Marnas

For an interactive website about a renowned garden in Southern Sweden, I helped synthesize the designer’s writings and thousands of photographs from over fifty years into a series of video narratives that allow visitors to encounter and experience the designer’s ideas across space and time. The project won an ASLA Honor Award in 2018.

Atmosphere Alhambra

To promote atmosphere and sensation as considerations in the design of cities and public spaces, I investigated microclimate design innovations in the Islamic Garden palaces of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, drawing out lessons for creating spaces of greater reflection and creativity today.

The Culver Dream

To combat hipster gentrification in Downtown Culver City, California, I investigated cultural power dynamics in the 150-year evolution of its built environment and proposed a strategy for sustainable urban development to revive its rich multicultural legacy.

MIT @ Cambridgeport

In an urban design studio, I helped propose an infill development for a large strip mall site in Cambridge, Massachusetts that envisions a great civic space, organic transitions between surrounding contexts, and design motifs that celebrate local history.

Rogers Street Park

To address social and environmental gaps between a traditionally working class neighborhood and a biotech campus surrounding MIT, I helped propose a park design on a vacant lot to encourage community mingling and restoration of the urban natural environment.

Amazon COVID Safety

Witnessing first-hand Amazon’s laissez faire approach to protecting workers during the Pandemic, I submitted a strategy for helping workers in Amazon’s largest distribution center on the West Coast to better protect themselves from the coronavirus.

The Forces that Shape Charles Circle

How do you read a place’s history in order to predict its future?
