North End Flood Resiliency

A resiliency plan to protect one of Boston’s most cherished neighborhoods.

Overview

Boston’s North End is one of the most iconic neighborhoods on the Eastern Seaboard, but its existence is increasingly threatened by rising sea levels and extreme weather events. Piggy-backing on Arup’s flood resiliency work for the adjacent Warf District, the North End Waterfront Climate Alliance asked us to come up with a similar plan for the North End that would allow it to protect public waterfront access and historical structures from flooding for the next 50 years.

I worked with our resiliency team to structure the overall narrative of our plan, supervised graphics production, and helped create our 3D flood model using Boston’s citywide model and flood projection data from FEMA and NOAA.
