Niagara Falls Transit
Selling private industry on the value of a massive public amenity.
Overview
Niagara Falls is Canada’s most popular tourist destination, but visitors have to drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic from parking lot to parking lot if they want to visit all of its major attractions—or else spend hours walking on unremarkable streetscapes or battling the bitter cold.
To help improve the visitor experience, I wrote, storyboarded, and co-directed a short video pitch to sell the city's hotel and tourism operators on the benefits of a large-scale people mover transit system that would link hotels, entertainment, and falls in a seamless all-electric network.
The city loved our video and used it to appeal for support from the business stakeholders. Sadly, a single stakeholder ended up blocking the unanimous backing that was required for the project to secure funding from the Provincial government, and the whole thing essentially died—forgive me—in its tracks.
