Liberty Reconnected
A plan to relink Jersey City to its greatest open space.
Overview
As part of Arup's ongoing work with the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), I led final design and narrative strategy for a plan to make Liberty State Park, the crown jewel of New Jersey's state park system, much more accessible and connected for people who do not drive--including the 37% of Jersey City residents who do not own a car.
My team’s approach focused on communicating transportation and design concepts in ways that help the public to understand the past and future evolution of the park, while also offering a solutions flip-book to guide public professionals in further stages of design.
As a direct result of our plan, the first shuttle bus in 12 years launched operations in July, 2024.
